BIOGRAPHY

Belgian cultural manager & percussionist Koen Slootmans is currently working for the the Conservatorium van Amsterdam as policy advisor, for the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra at the artistic department and as business director for Combined Creatives.

Koen aspires to a director position within a large cultural organization and is therefore looking for a challenging position with many responsibilities in which he can develop his administrative and leadership qualities.

​

Koen obtained his master in Cultural Management at the Antwerp University. Before he studied Percussion at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Nick Woud, Bence Major, Mark Braafhart, Peter Prommel, Richard Jansen and Rachel Zhang. He previously received a Bachelor Degree with great distinction at the Royal Conservatoire in Antwerp with Carlo Willems and Koen Wilmaers.

Besides Koen is still active as percussionist. Among others as an extra player in the professional symphony orchestra's in the Netherlands and Belgium like the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and Antwerp Symphony Orchestra.

Between the spring tour of 2018 and the summer tour of 2021 Koen has been a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) with whom he has performed all over the world. During the 2018-2019 season he was a member of the Academy of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. Between 2016 and 2018 he played with the National Youth Orchestra of The Netherlands (NJO). In 2016 he held the timpani position in the academy of the Royal Flemisch Philharmonic Orchestra.
